A Practical Guide for CaterCombi Rental Customers
If you rent a Rational SelfCookingCenter (SCC) combi oven from CaterCombi, you’ve probably heard about Service 25. It’s one of the most common errors and usually appears during the CleanJet cleaning cycle. The good news? In most cases, Service 25 is completely preventable with simple daily habits and good water care.
This guide is written specifically for our rental customers to help you avoid downtime, keep your oven running reliably, and reduce unnecessary service call-outs.
What Does Service 25 Mean?
The oven tries to run the CleanJet cleaning system but doesn’t detect enough water flowing through. This triggers the error because the system is designed to protect itself. Common causes include:
- Hard water scale or dirt blocking pipes and nozzles
- The drain valve not closing properly
- Low water pressure or blocked water supply
- Issues with the CleanJet pump
- Skipped or incomplete cleaning cycles
5 Simple Steps to Prevent Service 25
1. Run a Full CleanJet Cycle Every Day
Always run a complete CleanJet + Care cycle at the end of your service (Never skip the cleaning cycle or cut it short). Please use the correct Rational Care Tabs – these are not supplied with your rental and must be purchased separately.
Make sure the oven cavity is empty (no trays or racks left inside) before starting.
2. Take Care of Water Quality
Hard water is the biggest enemy of Rational ovens. We recommend installing a water filter if your water is hard (CTU 6/10 Grid or CTU 20/40 Grid). Please use approved descaling tablets on schedule and never use unapproved chemicals – they can damage sensors and void support.
3. Do These Quick Weekly Checks
Take 5 minutes once a week to visually inspect the drain at the bottom of the oven cavity and make sure it’s clean and free of debris. Check the spray nozzles at the top of the cavity for blockages and wipe around the door seal and ensure nothing is obstructing the drain valve.
4. Follow the Monthly Deep Clean
Perform a full descaling as recommended in the manual. Pay special attention to the area around the CleanJet outlet.
Quick Daily Prevention Checklist (Print & Laminate)
- Water tap fully open before cleaning
- Run full CleanJet + Care cycle at end of day
- Use correct Care Tabs
- Empty oven completely before cleaning
- Quick visual check of drain and nozzles
Stick this checklist near the oven – it takes less than 30 seconds to tick off.
What Should You Do If Service 25 Appears?
Switch the oven off and on again. Check water supply and run another CleanJet cycle. If the error returns, note the exact error code and contact CaterCombi Support immediately. Do not keep trying to force cleaning cycles – this can make the issue worse.
Early reporting usually means a quick fix (often just a blocked nozzle or valve) rather than a bigger repair.
